Lajevardi Foundation presented an installation by Mani Mehrzad, titled as “My First Twins.” Alongside the exposure, the artist Mr. Mehrzad held an auction for his work, to complete his project during the process.
What is noteworthy is that the dolls and other elements included in this installation were not built by the artist; rather, they are prefabricated objects. But the artist, putting those objects together, has created a different atmosphere. This installation calls for the recent social and political events around the world. Eiffel Tower, Bullets, Metal Rocket, speakers, slaughter devices are all explicitly indicative of the chaotic conditions which encompass the contemporary human.
In this show, twins were put out to tender. The buyer would be regarded as the parent of the twins. The names of parents would be registered on a steel certificate and would be sent to the new family. The addressee, contributing in the auction and ultimately denominating the twins, could play a role in accomplishing the concept of the work.
