Artists Emergency Aid is a group that consists of Iranian artists who work to finance immediate donations to meet the artists’ essential needs such as medical expenses, housing rents, and study trips. This fund enables its participants and operators to fulfill part of their social responsibility towards the cultural and artistic community.
The background for the establishment of the Artists' Emergency Aid was an event that was held in the spring of 2018 in the form of an exhibition entitled "Contemporary Modern", at the suggestion of Fereydoun Ave in collaboration with Dastan Gallery and Foad Sharifi.
In this exhibition, more than 30 artists from different generations worked on Bijan Saffari's hand-printed works, and the result of this activity was shown with the joint signature of the collaborating artists. Proceeds from the sale of these works were used to help artists in need of support.
A year after the "Contemporary Modern" exhibition, the first Artists' Emergency Aid’s event was held in collaboration with Aart Maart (Aassttiinn Online Store Visual Arts Platform) and Pejman Foundation, in the summer of 2019.
The exhibition was selected by Fereydoun Ave and arranged by him online. Proceeds from the sale of artworks from this period of the Artists' Emergency Aid were entirely spent on treating artists who had suffered from Covid-19 or were struggling to pay for accommodation due to the recent economic recession.
The second Artists' Emergency Aid event is now being held from 21st to 26th February 2021 with the support of the Lajevardi Foundation and the Contemporary Art Publication. The event will feature 58 artworks by 29 artists. In all of these works, Fereydoun Ave has teamed up with another artist to create a joint work. As a result of this accompaniment, artists with different approaches from different generations have come together to display an unpredictable combination, a reminder of the appeal of collaboration and the possibility of coexistence of contradiction, compatibility, opposition and agreement in one place.
Due to the continuation of Covid-19 situation, the presence of interested parties and audiences will be pre-planned and limited with prior coordination, and the auction of artworks will be held online. Based on the policies and approach of the Lajevardi Foundation, as well as the charitable goals of the Artists' Emergency Aid, this foundation will not have any financial benefits from holding this show.
The second artists' emergency Aid includes works by these artists: Reza Aramesh, Fereydoun Ave, Fereydoun Omidi, Mohsen Ahmadvand, Nazgol Ansarinia, Mohammad Piryaee, Shideh Tami, Sahand Hesamiyan, Shahla Hosseini, Shantia Zakerameli, Ali Razavi, Mamali Shafahi, Shaqayeq Arabi, Mohammadhossein Gholamzadeh, Bita Fayyazi, Reza Lavassani, Ahmad Morshedloo, Amin Montazeri, Farshid Mesghali, Mehrdad Mohebali, Ali Nassir, Malekeh Nayiny, Nikzad Nodjumi, Shaghayegh Rezvani, Ashkan Sanei, Mehrdad Poornazarali, Dariush Zandi, Mehdi Hoseini and Narges Hashemi.
